Default comment on my recommendation

I too read about handicraft market and planned on going to it April 2006. However our tour to ruins was an hour longer than planned (guide forgot about daylight savings). We did have time at dock to do those vendor stalls and prices seemed to be set and much higher being a captive market of tourists.

We did the biking in Belize tour thru carnival (Highly recommend- easy if you can bike at all, nice narrative tour on coach a/c bus, Altun Ha ruins, group lunch etc.
At the Altun Ha ruins are vendor stalls that had much better pricing a bowl say for $15-20 vs. $32. We were rushed and had literally only 5 minutes to shop (a shame).
If you go ruins shop there -skip the tour climb to the top and head for shopping.
any other questions on tour etc. just ask.
