From my sources at HAL I have been told that the limited smoking venue is on the Vista class ships where the demographic is younger non smokling families. I was told that most likely smoking will continue for quite some time on the R & S class ships as they have an older demographic that contains the majority of the smokers.

I am a smoker and find this a good compromise. We did sail in a Vista class once, the limited smoking was very uncomfortable. The smokers hogged all the seats at the bar and the majority of us weren't drinking. The non-smokers and the drinkers were advised by several persons that this was the only place that allowed smoking so they could go drink anywhere.

It's a tough call to make. but I think the information that I was given makes more sense than not.
