There has been significant changes to the lava flow at Kilauea on the big island. There were 250 earthquakes last Sunday and as of today, they have only had about 10 per day. The lava flow has slowed down, but new steam vents and fissures have opened. Chain of Craters RD has been closed as there is a 33 inch wide crack on the road. There was a similar episode in 1999 but resumed the flow within a few weeks. What does this mean to us cruising Hawaii? It may be that we won't get as spectacular show as we sail past at night. Earthquakes and lava flow are extremely hard to predict.
