Default Flight Tour for Ketchikan

I am cruising the week of 8/11/01 and am looking for a helicopter or floatplane tour for Ketchikan. Any reccomendations would be appreciated. I would prefer to book in advance of sailing.

I also like to add that I'm cruising in July on the Sun Princess, and would like to take one helicopter/floatplane sightseeing tour. Can anyone recommend at which stop I should do this (including Seward if that is the best) and whether I should go the helicopter or floatplane route? I don't necessary need a specific operator, just advice on which is the best stop to take such a tour on and comments on which is better (heli or plane).

Thanks

It really depends on what you're looking for. In Juneau you will get a really good glacier flight by helicopter. In Ketchikan you are at the start up point for Misty Fjords, a magnificent wild area, already glaciated, with waterfalls falling hundreds of feet into the fjords below. On some of the flights (by plane, not helicopter), you land in a mountain lake where there is no other sign of humanity other than the plane and it's human contents. It's an utterly magnificent flightseeing tour. It is one of Alaska's high points for me.

The best of any flight is a glacier helicopter landing out of Juneau via Coastal. a distant second is a Misty Fjords floatplane, but still worthwhile. However the time you are going is PRIME bear watching out of Ketchikan via float plane. Book direct with the operator- www.taquanair.com www.islandwings.com both do Misty fjords and bear watching- I have done both tours with both.

I booked with islandwings. Thanks for the suggestions. I am ready to go now, too bad it's another 2 1/2 months! Thanks again for the help.
