My husband and I are very interested in going to Alaska in 2002 and would like opinions about which cruise line is better for Alaska, Princess or Alaska?. We are interested in doing both the land and cruise packages. We are in early 40s without children.
We love Royal Carribean cruising but have been told to use Princess for Alaska even by other loyal Royal fans. I have been reading about the Radiance for Royal Carribean and the new Princess Star and both sound like they would be great.
I have also been told that smaller is better for Alaska.
What are your thoughts? People on this board are so helpful and knowledgeable about cruising!
Re: Royal Carribean or Princess for Alaska in 2002
It is very important to look carefully at cruise tours. They are severely lacking in my opinion as they spend a large amount of time in transit and see only the large tourist areas. None go very far into Denali and I only recommend the shuttle bus to Eielson. why shortchange your self since you have traveled all the way to Alaska. With that being said the only way I go is on my own via a rental car- I go for 1/3 the cost and always see at least twice as much. Very easy to do. As for your cruise choice. I base my choice first on ports and glacier- then price then ship- every thing for me going to Alaska is out side the ship. Skip RCI and southbound Celebrity one way cruises they skip- College fjords.
