Default Too Slow off the Mark for Booking Whitepass RR

Heads up! Tried self-booking Whitepass RR for August 8th, afternoon. Got notified that train is already booked up for the 730am and 130pm trip and all that they could offer me was 430pm (a bit too late for me to get back to the ship and to dinner). They told me I'll have to book through the cruiseline if I want the earlier times. Do ya think they're in cahoots with the cruise ships on this? Or is booking a week ahead pushing it. Just thought I'd warn everyone to try to get their reservations in earlier!

We had also tried to book independently from White Pass, & they strongly recommended we book through the cruiseline as the ships have more than enough tickets. So that's what we did: booked thru RCL online. Other posters had mentioned being refused when they mentioned they were on a cruise ship. Don't know about being in cahoots -- think the ships probably buy in volume & White Pass will try to sell non-cruise tourists. And the difference was only $10 -- White Pass said the rails are right on the dock.

So you might try directly through your cruise line, even on-line if you can.

You can get off the ship very early in the morning in Skagway and walk about 2-3 blocks to the train station in town and book directly there. We were there in June and had pre-purchased thru RCI on-line. The only thing was that our train did not stop at the terminal. It just chugged past. There is another train that pulled up next to the Princess ship and that train must have stopped there. That train followed us up the pass.

The tickets at the station were a little less than what we paid. Can't remember specific prices.
