Default Skagway Excursions

Anyone have advice, good or bad, on Skagway Excursions: Klondike Summit & Gold Panning; Hike & Float the Chilkoot Trail (4hrs); Salmon Cookout, Campfire Tales & Gold Panning (2hrs); Historical Skagway (2hrs)??? We have already booked the White Pass RR for the 1:00 trip while in Skagway.

Since you are doing the 3 1/2 trip at 1pm from the ship, I'd tend to take in the town on foot for the morning which would give you enough time to come back for a nice lunch on the ship.
The ship docks around 8am and the town is only five-ten minutes on foot, its quite small. This way you could off at 9am -10am and be back for 1130, time enough for a quick bite.

The suggestion of "doing the town" during the morning is a good one. Much of
Skagway has been restored to its original "look", and there are a number of very
uniques places to visit.

Go into town and see the free movie on the gold rush at the visitor center. It's excellent.

We went into town in the morning and took the 1pm train and went back in the afternoon for more shopping and were happy we did most of our shopping in morning there were not so many people walking around. The board gave me the idea of taking the train in the afternoon for sometime it is not clear in the Am and we were not sorry.
