Default Vancouver hotels

My family and I will be taking the 8/25/02 Inside Passage cruise on Mercury. We will be arriving in Vancouver the day before and are looking for a centrally-located clean and reasonable hotel. Any suggestions? I appreciate any help.
Thanks-
Eve

Hi Eve!

I'd recommend going to http://www.travelocity.com. Click on lodging and put it the pertinent information. Look for the hotels that are listed as being downtown. Depending on the kind of rate you're looking for, go to the specific hotel's web site and see if they offer a better deal than travelocity. Sometimes it's worth the extra effort. We had the opportunity to stay at the Sheraton Wall Centre (on Sept 15 & 16, 2001), but Princess paid our bill. Otherwise, it would have been beyond my budget. It was especially nice because the Stanley Park shuttle stopped right outside and gave us free transportation to the park. There are MUCH better hotel deals, so check them out!!

Days Inn though "basic", can't be beat for the location- sometimes great deals to stay there, but I like the funky Sylvia the best on English Bay- short cab or long walks to most areas.

I have found a mid-range price for a hotel in Vancouver. It is the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. It is right across the street from the pier where all the cruise ships come in, you have a walkway to get to the ships. I got an city view room (where it looks out to the city) for $155 US dollars per night. It all just matters on your budget, I have seen some more located downtown for as little as $50 US dollars per night.

What is your price range Eve. US dollars? CDN dollars?

In my job, I tour hotels for corp. rates and functions, so I get to see a lot of the hotel .. including all the different types of rooms. There are many good hotels right in the heart of downtown that aren't that expensive. Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia is a four star hotel .. not bad rates .. not bad rooms a little small, but nice. Very old hotel that has been recently reno'd. Also five star hotel like The Metropolitan is really nice for the price .. big bathrooms with sunken tubs. I stayed there on New Years .. I think it was around $120 CDN .. There are many others that I could suggest at cheaper rates. Let me know if you have any questions.

hi eve, I've book total of 4 nights with Renaissance Hotel harborside. A 3 star hotel from pricesline.com for $37us plus tx per room(4 people double bed)..You can't beat the price and it's about a mile away from the canada place....if you do bid, start at around $30 and work your way up...good luck..
