I emailed my details and then called with my credit card number, and am yet to hear back from them I have emailed since to see what is going on, but no reply..
I am reluctant to phone again because of the long distance call costs from Australia, and I would have to call at around 4am (my time) which is also a pain...
Therese
ps: the lady from there sounded lovely on the phone, just wish I knew what was going on
Hi Therese, YES, the Orca people are just great. In fact, I just got an e-mail from Carol today. She said they will be sending our confirmations for the 2002 season beginning within the next week or two. They are great people and a pleasure to deal with. We have used them before and also last September, we were unable to make our Alaska cruise due to the 9/11 disaster and we were offered our money back or just leave it and use it for our upcoming visit to Juneau this May. Carol is wonderful. Just e-mail her anytime. Have a great time on the Awesome Orca.....
I've sent 3 emails over the past week and none have been replied to. They have usually been excellent and fast at responding. I'm wondering if they aren't going through or something?
It's not unusual for the Alaskan e-mail providers to lose power or connectivity to the internet when the weather gets bad. This is also the time of year when many of the Alaskans take off for warmer weather down south. Since they have such a good reputation, it's probably worth your while to be patient.
Just a thought...
One thing to consider- they are NOT open, and probably check up on their business every few days. It is also early to book and not necessary at this time. I have never booked with them farter than 30 days ahead.
Franklin St. in Juneau is their office, walking distance from the cruise dock. They also usually have a booth set up on the dock. www.alaskawhalewatching.com they are about $100pp
I have gone with them a few times. They are a long established company. Be advised they are closed and probably only check email every few days- I would email them and request a convenient time for you to call- be sure to make allowances for the time change.
