Default Alaska Cruises

My wife and Iare planning a cruise to Alaska . Like to know what month will be preferable; late May-early June, or mid June.
Also, we are undecided between Princess and Holland-America.
Any opinions will be much appreciated.

If you would like to have the maximum amount of snow and ice,
plan to go late in May. Our last trip was mid-may, and we had
an outstanding cruise, with the glaciers at their best. Remember,
you will need warm clothing, hats, and gloves--the weather will
be cool(cold). ENJOY

For a first timer I would go with the better weather of mid June. Far more important than the cruise line is the ports, time in ports and glacier - with Glacier Bay a clear preference for me. Then fit in the ship. With things equal I would go with HAL- I have gone to Alaska on both lines so I can offer an opinion.

I don't agree that "glaciers are at their best" in May. No guarantees. I have seen very active calving late August.

Where are the "wilderness lodges"? What ports? Dress warm in layers, knit hat and gloves. 2 pair of walking shoes. be sure to post your interests and budget. Loads of excursion choices in Alaska.
