what to pack? Has any one taken the midnight express train to wilderness lodge?

I assume this is via Alaska RR? Where is the "wilderness lodge"? When in Sept are you traveling?

After the 7 day cruise we are taking a 3 night land trip on the midnight sun express to Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge to Denal Wilderness Lodge and then to Fairbanks then home to NC.

I do not recommend any 3 day cruise tour. You will be spending a big portion of your time in transit and little time at any attraction. Also Princess Mt. McKinley lodge (if I am assuming right?) is in the middle of no where and not a place I would be without a car. You are 40 miles from Talkeetna and 100+ miles from Denali Park entrance. With a 3 day tour you are likely to be only going on the "nature tour" in Denali park which only goes in about 16 miles- little if any wildlife in this short distance. If you are on the tundra tour that goes to mile 53, but I would never consider a trip less than to at least Eielson via the SHUTTLE mile 66. You are traveling all that way, make the most of your trip and don't shortchange yourself by not allowing enough time.
