Anyone know why we (Canadians) need a passport to go on the Alaska cruise?

Could be that you land in Seward, or that you make stops in Alaska?

According to the website, we don't go to Seward (doing the 7 day inside passage).

Unless rules have changed since my last Alaska cruise.. which they could easily have done after 9/11... you shouldn't need a passport for an Alaska cruise.

However, unless you travel outside the country less than once every five years, I think a passport is an excellent investment for ID that truly does smooth the travel process.

We have Canadian passports for us and the kids. Just renewed them before the new year.

Nancy-Check your cruise itinerary. All large cruise ships terminate
their 7 day cruises in Seward and passengers must then take a
train, bus, or rental car to Anchorage airport. The roundtrip
cruises may not go to Seward, but they stop at several U.S. ports.
Canadian customs may require some I.D. when returning to
Canada..
