From what I've read about Alaska, is its very un-predictable, so just start the day with layer clothing and as it warms, peel the out layers off. Be ready for some rain, thats almost the norm some weeks, its just hard to tell, so be prepared for almost anything. I'm going the end of Aug., and will still pack a pair or 2 of shorts, just in case it is warm.
Natalie - what ship are you going on in the middle of July? We are on Carnival SPIRIT 7-17. Can't wait!! Yes, weather is unpredictable from what they say but I'm with Donna - definately will pack summer clothing TOO as I think it can get warm and it can get cold but will take our chances with a bit of summer wear!! I think it may also depend on where you are from. If you live in a warm climate then you may want warmer clothing because you would tend to be chilly but we're from Maine and we are used to it being cold so Alaska temps sound normal to us. It is very hot and humid here right now so cooler temps sound GREAT!! Soon to find out.... Happy Cruising!! Shanon
hi, i'm also am having a problem with clothing. too many types, too little space. sailing on the carnival spirit on july 24th after a four day land tour. are there any single out there doing this great trip. i KNOW i'm not alone!!!
We just got back the weather was great. We had rain in the morning at Ketchikan, but it cleared off by the afternoon. In Skagway it got up to 79, other days were in the upper 60's and lower 70's. The weather was great. We wore our heavy windbreakers when we cruised by the glaciers and at night on deck. We saw about 16 whales throughout the trip. It was awesome. Legend is beautiful and really fun. Have a great trip. We want to go again in the near future. Happy sailing.
