Has any readers been on HAL,s Glacier Point Wilderness Safari (5 1/2 hrs-$204) at Skagway or the Ketchikan Backcountry Jeep and Canoe Safari (4 hrs-$129). Have booked these two and hope they are worth the steep price. Thanks for any reports.
We just took this tour last week and found it to be a little staged. The canoe trip is 20 people in a canoe going across a small lake , then a tour of the forest and then snacks, Then on to the jeeps, although fun , we could have rented jeeps on our own and had as much fun. Cancel
What did you see on the jeep tour? Was it on paved roads or off road. We still have this booked, but maybe we need to re think. We chose it because we wanted to see some of the "land" and the forest. We thought it would be a nice change, doing so many "water" things.
Re: Re: Ketchikan Backcountry Jeep and Canoe Safari
If you want to see some of the "land" then consider renting a car and driving to Ward Lake- very easy to get to- this would also allow unlimited viewing outside of Ketchikan. I have rented from Alaska car rental a few times and they allowed me to drop off at the dock. A much better "land" opportunity would also be a bear watch- I have gone twice and if you aren't interior touring this may be your only Alaska opportunity.
