Fishing in Ketchican

We will be on the Legend of the Seas at Ketchican on Sept. 4th. My parents have booked fishing trip with Orca. Will anyone else be doing this? or have fished there before. They are also going to fish for Halibut at Sitka on Sept. 3rd. We are booking this as soon as they get onboard the Legend. They are really excited about this cruise, but my Dad really would like to catch some fish. Any info would be greatly apprecitated.

Hi,

I used to live up that way in Prince Rupert B.C. and early September should still be good for Coho salmon. They're really good fighters. Never caught a big halibut, just witnessed a few smaller ones in our boat - 20-30lbs. But going with a fishing guide is the best, they'll know where they're biting. Good luck.

Just came back , went fishing for salmon off the brige in Kictican and caught more fish then we knew what to do with. Carole at Orca is the BEST you will have a ball!!!!!!!!!

HI, We had Carole book our whale watching trip in juneau. What times did you go fishing in ketchikan and how much did it cost?

Was it a private trip or group and how many people.

Unless they have expanded, Orca doesn't run the fishing tours but book it for you with another company. In Ketchikan it is indeed easy to rent poles and fish from the marina- call the Ketchikan visitor center to get the current information on the location of the operator who has the poles and license- 800-7703300 My family has gone with Northern Lights the most out of Ketchikan- excellent operator.

Thank you all for your info. We are sailing southbound on the Legend of the Seas. We should be in Ketchican on Sept. 4th. My parents booked a half day trip with Orca. We will be in Sitka on the 3rd and they are booking thru RC for a full day Halibut trip. Hopefully they will catch some. This is their lst cruise so I want it to be great for them.
