When in Anchorage...?

When leaving our cruise in Seward, I think we will bus up to Anchorage. Since I don't want to rush the whole trip from the ship to the airport to make our flight, I think we will stay one night in Anchorage. Any suggestions for hotels? What do you suggest for activities that late afternoon and evening in Anchorage. It will be our first time there.

We did the reverse the other week, flew to Anchorage, then drove to the ship.

We stayed in the new Diamond Center Hotel and it was a lovely place, big rooms.

Best in my opinion would be to rent a car once you get to Anchorage to allow many more touring options and most important get a visitor guide. www.anchorage.net I would strongly suggest you add more than 1 day- so very much to see and it is a shame not to get to Denali Park since you are so close.
