Default CruiseTours - Land B4 or after Cruise?

My family is planning a Princess cruisetour in August of 2003, and I've heard many comments indicating you should do the land portion first, and then the cruise? Has anyone done it the other way (or both)? We had planned to do the cruise first until seeing these comments.

We took the cruise after the land tour so that we could unpack, unwind and relax and enjoy the beauty of the cruise. It worked for us.

We talked around and decided to cruise after the land tour..following Gary's idea of unwinding and enjoying th cruise, pampering ourselves and unpacking only once for the second week of our vacation.

My husband and I are booked on the Dawn for July 2003. Cruising first. #1 Wanted to be on board for the Anniversary and #2 Looking forward to the being on the ship more than the land part. I know me, I wouldn't enjoy the land part if I was feeling "hurry up, I want to be on the ship".

I have done both directions. My preference is southbound. Mostly for the great last sailing day - a marine wildlife bonanza. A full day for me with my binoculars. Be very informed what your tour includes in the way of transit times and tours- especially Denali Park- they are intentionally vague in my opinion.
