Does anyone know of any challenging excursion options through independents in either Juneau/Skagway/Ketchikan? We are going to be on our honeymoon and want to get some trekking/kayaking in e.g. kayaking in the vicinity of the Misty Fjords sounds like it would be fun!
runs great kayaking tours out of Ketchikan. I would recommend a glacier helicopter trekking out of Juneau with Northstar trekking. But a "regular" glacier helicopter landing is spectacular as well. If outside your budget- hiking the East Loop Glacier trail out a Mendenhall Glacier is a great adventure. Biking in Skagway is a favorite of mine- the mostly level 9+ miles out to Dyea is loaded with scenery and a few informative stops- or hiking up to Lower Dewey or the Upper Dewey Lake. Plenty of low cost options that could allow for a big splurge.
