Default Laundry - Where to do it?

Our Northbound cuise/land tour will last 16 days. In order to pack as lightly as possible, laundry needs to be done at least once maybe twice during our trip. But I certainly want to minimize time spent doing it. Viewing Alaska is my main goal here! Karen has mentioned doing laundry in Skagway, which is day 7 of our trip and we have booked 2 excursions while we are there. Any other good places? What do others do?

I can be done in a little over an hour at Skagway- located at 2nd and State, 1 block from the shuttle if needed. They have large effecient propane dryers. There is laundry in Seward- you would need the trolley/cab. Depending what ship you are on, that may be an option but I tend to avoid the too small ship machines. There is laundry in each of Anchorage, Fairbanks if you have a car and in Talkeetna across from the Roadhouse.

Thanks, Karen. We are on the Celebrity Summit. We will be in Talkeetna for 1-1/2 days so will definitely have time to do laundry there. Will also consider Skagway. Leave for Vancouver on 7/2 for 7/4 cruise departure. Can't wait -- first trip to Alaska - but 3rd cruise. Your responses on the message board have been very helpful.

Karen16 - I may have asked this before but does this place offer wash & fold service. I really won't have time to stay and do laundry but very interested in dropping off some and picking it back up on way back to ship. Do you know if they will be open in the late afternoon to early evenings?

There is an apartment house with a laundry room open to the public in Juneau. It's about two blocks from the pier - off the ship, onto the main drag, two blocks up the hill on the right. You'll need quarters before you go, but you can purchase detergent/bleach/fabric softener there.

davida

I am almost as excited about your trip as I am my own. Please come back with a complete report. This has nothing to do with laundry. But could you make special note on the dress code on both formal and informal nights. I believe you said you were going in June.

Thanks
Lauri
