Default customs receipts?

We're first time cruisers leaving on Coral Princess 5/31. Info we've received says we should bring receipts for video cameras/cameras etc. to avoid paying custom's fees on them as we reenter U.S. Is this really necessary? Thanks for any info!

You should be able to register your items with customs before you leave....they will give you some sort of receipt proving that you had it before you left. It's probably not a bad idea.

Its probibaly not a bad idea to carry the receipts if you purchased something like that recently before the cruise, just to be on the safe side.
