We sailed to both Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm on the Yorktown Clipper. We saw the Johns Hopkins Glacier in Glacier Bay and the North and South Sawyer Glaciers in Tracy Arm. The experience was similar, but we saw several other ships in Glacier Bay while we had Tracy Arm all to ourselves. Our day in Tracy Arm was very cloudy with light rain, this lighting helped the glaciers to be the deepest blue we saw on that trip.
I agree with Karen. We took tracy arm via auk nu and it was great. You can do it on the northbound Princess and Celebrity. We also saw the most wildlife on that trip, 15 humback, 30 orca, 3 black bear, porpoises, sheep, and goats. Trip was about $100 but well worth it.
Glacier Bay has about 16 glaciers of which you will se about 6 compared to the 2 in Tracy Arm.
The only other place I have been is the Misty Fjords but there is no glaciers there.
we just got back and i can say tracy arm was the highlight of my trip.the sawyer glacier and icebergs along the way were fantastic.i was on the star princess and i still don't know how that big ship could get into that narrow opening.
