Star Princess - August 9th Cruise
Just got back from our first and WONDERFUL cruise on the Star Princess.
Had a rough start - cruise before us came in that moring with Norwalk virus and the entire ship had to be disinfected so Princess sent us on buses to 3 main hotels in downtown Seattle while they cleaned and disinfected ship. We left four hours later, but they made up for it with $50 on-board credit per cabin. Then small fire in Sabatino's steak house kitchen resulted in that restaurant being closed rest of cruise because of water damage. Most passengers didn't even know about it. Then last port, Victora BC we could not go to - gail-force winds prompted the captain to say he could not safely dock there.
Would I go on Star Princess again? In a heartbeat. The staff, meals, and attentiveness to every detail made this cruise absolutely breathtaking. Even though this newest ship from the Princess fleet holds 2600 passengers, you never felt crowded. The outstide balcony stateroom was perfect and more than enough storage, as I overpacked as usual.
We want to repeat this cruise in a year and just do some of the shore excursions we did not have time to do. Unfortuantely it will not be on the Star as this is the last year for her in Australia she is being diverted to Mexico and then Australia.
But what a first-time cruise it was. We are still in awe.
Re: Star Princess - August 9th Cruise
It is great that you had a wonderful time on your first cruise! We have booked the same cruise (inner passage) next year 8/08/04 and it will be our first also. It made me feel good to see that you were pleased. The Sapphire Princess is the scheduled ship and she is supposed to be a grand ship also. Could you tell me what your favorite land excursions were? Thanks.
