Default what do you think of the cabin I have on hold?

I was wondering if anyone could offer an opinion on a cabin that I have on hold on the Island Princess for a May 22 southbound cruise. The cabin is C622, which is on Caribe deck. Itís an outside verandah double, port side. Itís the first one of the aft bumpout area. Iíve never been on a cruise before, but this seems like a good location to me because it just has cabins above and below and it looks like the balcony will have a nice unobstructed view. The only thing I wonder is if we will feel more motion/rolling because it is nearer the stern than the middle of the ship. What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Beth,
I think you'll be fine with that cabin and location, go ahead and book it. I too always try to have cabins above/below, then for sure never any noise problem.

You may want to check out the ship layout more closely at this site, I use it all the time:

I agree with Donna.

We had the farthest aft cabin on the Star Princess. The deck or balcony was almost double the normal size because it wrapped around the support structure for the "spoiler-like" disco above the top of the aft of the ship. This huge deck was quite a surprise. There was room for two lounges, a dining table and four chairs. There was still lots of room to move about the deck.

I don't believe the island Princess has any such configuration but I guess my point is that the newer ships are usually quite stable. We had no problem with rocking or vibrations.

sounds like a great cabin with a spacious balcony. BUT if prone to seasickness - take precautions, no guarantee on ANY sailing or cabin. It is a myth that Alaska is "smooth sailing". 3 out of 10 of my Alaska cruises encountered rough sailing- one time 3 days worth. And for what it's worth- you should feel motion- it's a ship.

Just be aware- you are going too early for Denali Park touring. You are not likely to get past 20 miles, if that far. Rethink the date if that is a priority, best is an arrival after June 1.

We were on Dolphin deck on the Star Princess this past August in Alaska and our cabin was right in the middle and i thought it was terrrific. There are pictures I posted on the board if you care to go back to an August listing under my name.
