Thanks for the feedback. Am totally new to Alaska, and message boards..do you have more specific info on which independent company and tour name you would take for the Misty Fjords? I'm traveling with 1 person with some lower back problems and 2 teens. Thanks!

I have flown with both many times, and equally recommend Southeast Aviation and Island Wings.

If you're stopping in Ketchikan, then book a seaplane tour for the Misty Fjords. Must see. But leave enough time for you and your wife to walk the streets. Great houses with lots of character. Also, Creet Street is the old red light district. Really cool picture taking opportunities there. www.ketchikanblog.com is a good site for inquiring tourists.
