Anyone familiar with Skagway Tour Company?

I am considering booking the Yukon/White Pass Summit Excursion with the Skagway Tour Company because I'm hoping the times they offer will work better with our schedule than similar tours offered by the cruiseline. It's a bus tour that includes a historical tour of Skagway and ride to the summit and then 55 miles into Yukon territory, including Carcross and views of Emerald Lake. I liked the sound of this one because it's mostly history and scenery, without the gold panning/Liarsville stuff, which I think sounds a little cheesy.

Any thoughts? Has anyone used this company or taken this tour?

I just got some more info from the company .... they are no longer offering the tour I was interested in. But they are still offerning a shorter one that includes the historical Skagway tour and a drive to the Yukon border.

Any suggestions for other companies that offer tours of Skagway and then into the Yukon territory?

Thanks,
Beth

This company consistantly gets good reviews, however it goes 55 miles one way- 20 short of Emerald Lake.

If you are interested in seeing Emerald Lake - renting a car might be an idea. If you are interested in out door recreation - Southeast Tours offers a tour - Yukon Horseback Riding Adventure. You will see Emerald Lake - from the hilltops back of Emerald Lake. You get a narrated tour into the Yukon, see Emerald Lake and a horseback wilderness tour and a chance to rest, have a snack and chat with the guides. I took that tour and it was wonderful.
