Default rough waters?

Are the waters rough on an alaskan cruise? Would anyone recommend if this would be a good destination for a person who gets motion sickness to go on? I have been on only caribbean cruises and only had a couple of rough nights there.

If you sail the inside passage from Vancouver you have a pretty good chance that the seas will be calm. For the most part there will be land on both sides of the ship during your sailing.

However, you are on a ship in the ocean and bad weather and rough seas can pop up any time so there are no gurarentees of course.

Smooth sailings in Alaska are a myth. 3 out of my 10 Alaska cruises encountered very rough sailing part of the trip with one lasting 3 days. For clairfication- all of those were round trip cruises. If prone to seasickness, TAKE PRECAUTIONS- you don't want to miss a minute being ill.
