Floatplane worth it?

Hello everyone,

This messageboard is fantastic! I cannot imagine planning my trip to Alaska without all your opinions.
I need help understanding how similar the floatplane experience is to the helicopter ride. I'm taking a helicopter ride in Juneau. If I don't spend the money on the floatplane excursion, I could plan a trip to the Kenai Fjords National park (and therefore not miss the train ride from Anchorage to Seward- our ship docks at Whittier). What do you think?? Thanks.

My opinion only- very different. I would skimp elsewhere and do both, if this is not going to be a repeat trip?? How are you getting from Whittier??? There is supposed to be a cheap bus service available direct to Seward. If it arrives by 10- 10:30 am you could hook up with a Kenai Fjords boat trip leaving at 11:30. You could drops your bags directly at the depot for storage then walk to the Kenai Fjords office. Long day though. If you can't do both, then my edge would be toward Kenai Fjords- for my wildlife interest. But I have done all of your list- certainly tough choices.

Thank you, Karen. I took your advice and tried to make a couple of phone calls. No company seems to have service between Whittier and Seward. Any leads? Going directly to Seward from Whittier would save me a bunch.
Btw, you definitely should get compensated for all the help you provide on these websites. Are you 'BudgetQueen' as well?!

It's me again. I've finally found this shuttle bus service from Whittier to Seward. It is called Polar Express- any feedback? Is it reputable? They leave from Whittier at 8:45 am and reach Seward at 10:30 am. Costs only $30 per person, one way!
