last year i went whale watching, did the floatplane and white pass summit trip. i need a more sedate schedule this trip for my companion and am wondering about this special they have. any help will be appriciated.
they pick you up at the dock. it is the cheechako special
juneo-- mendenhall glacier historic site
skagway--white pass summit tour
ketchikan--- saxmen totem village/ city tour
i have seen on the boards though that there are ''blue buses'' that can take you too the glacier in juneo for $10. so i dont know if that is a good deal for that or not. also now that i think about it i have done the white pass summit tour. my friend hasnt though and i dont think seeing it twice would hurt since it is so pretty there and this price is cheaper for that tour. i really do want to see the village this time with all the totem poles. i didnt see that last sept and i want too this time. i still have plenty of time to figure out what tours we will do. she has kind of put me in charge of all the planning so i want to make sure she will see things for the first time herself. im trying to talk her into going on a whale tour. i will keep pushing for that. let me know what you think of this tour. do you think it would be worth it or not??
Frankly- if there is a more active tour you wish to consider for yourself, I would split up. But - no I don't think your package is a good deal for $99. As mentioned there are shuttle buses to Mendenhall Glacier for $10 round trip- + $3 admission to the visitor center. If you want a Mendenhall TOUR bus with added sites and commentary- it is around $20 with admission included. Saxman tours are numerous from the visit center in the $25 pp range. Pick one up when you get there to make better use of your time. Same for the White Pass Summit buses- around $30 at the dock.
after checking more closely i see you are right. i want to do different things this time so i have lots of options to choose from. my friend who is going with me ( her first cruise and never been to alaska ) cannot do alot of hiking and things. that is why i will be doing more relaxed tours this time. i will still have plenty of tours to pick from and lots of time to decide. thanks dusty
