Just curious...will my Verizon cellular give any coverage at all on NCL Spirit to Alaska?
My wife and I travel with small Motorola hand-held radios to communicate with each other when we travel. She can find me at virtually any blackjack table in the western hemisphere. Seriously, they're awfully convenient (and cheap to operate) .
There is usually service in Juneau and Ketchikan, none last year in Skagway. If going interior, service most of Alaska main road areas with some dead spots. If you have the Nation wide plan, no additional roaming. There is roaming in areas with America's choice plane. I have 2 phones with these 2 plans.
We were on Summit repo in May (San Diego to Alaska). I used my CINGULAR cell (GAIT) phone in every port and occasionally while cruising.....I was totally blown away by the wonderful service (I have Nation plan - no extra roaming or LD charges).....only had to remember to NOT use the phone in Vancouver or I'd pay!
Oh, yes: The ONLY reason we subscribed to cellular service is because we have a small retirement place in TN (our home is in Ohio)....decided it made more sense to have a cell than a land line in TN - My first Cingular contract worked GREAT! However, in January I had to renew my contract and had to purchase a GAIT phone - and now I have NO service AT ALL at our TN place! So you can imagine how surprised I was that the phone worked so well in Alaska! Go figure.
