Has anyone experienced problems seeing Hubbard Glacier? I've read on several boards the ships might encounter problems and not be able to get close enough to the glacier.
We were there during May repo cruise on Summit - also there last May for same cruise: No problem see glacier either time - lots of ice bergs in the water both time. Absolutely beautiful.....
If you have not done it yet, make sure to take a trip out to Mendenhall Glacier while in Juneau - can get close up and personal and it's just a nice place to visit with a wonderful visitors' center!

I was there 2 weeks ago on the HAL Oosterdam. The captain did a marvelous job of getting us REALLY close. The view was terrific. BTW, I overheard two people saying that the best view was when we turned around to leave. They must have been standing on the deck at the aft pool. Happy cruising.
On our visit there almost 2 years ago, we had no problem getting nice and close, but they did say the previous week they couldn't, so hopefully you'll have no problems and have a wonderful day there, its totally amazing, the hightlight of my Alaska cruise for sure.
Again I just read on another board that they got within 3 miles of Hubbard for the view. I hope things get better by the first week of July. It will be amazing anyway to see an area where I've never been.
We were there 2 weeks ago and we were about 1 mile off shore. Got as close as the ice would allow. On RCCL Vision and Holland America was right behind us. Definately check out the back as you turn around!

Radiance of the Seas got in less than 1 mile on June 16th. It is amazing to see, to watch and to hear the calving. Look for the little harbor seals on the icebergs. They look like little black dots. Don't forget binoculars! Happy cruising.
