Hi,
I was wondering if it would be better to book a float plane excursion thru the cruise line (Sapphire Princess) or do it online with the operator, or wait till I get there and book it in person. We'll be in Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. Which is the better place to get a float plane tour?
Thanks,
Bob
Ketchikan to Misty Fjords is the top float plane tour. Definately book independent- superior for being allowed off the plane onto land in the fjords. I have gone with Southeast Aviation (perhaps look for a used Toursaver coupon book on Ebay?), Carlin Air and Island Wings. You would have a great tour with most any Ketchikan independent.
We booked our tours independently. Pilots choice helicopter glacier landing in Juneau with Temsco and a floatplane tour in Ketchican with Carlin Air. Because of a slight mechanical problem, Carlin set us up with someone that they recommended and it turned out to be a great choice . Our pilot's name was Ryan and he owns RDM Air.He was great and he also has a talent for finding wildlife. We were lucky enough to be the only passengers on both flights. Both were wonderful experiences and we saved some money by booking on our own.
