We are taking our first cruise on HAL this June on the Zaandam. Our last Alaska cruise we disembarked in Vancouver but boarded in San Diego. We are unsure about the boarding process at Canada Place.
Anyone have info about how soon we can check-in? How about the crowds since three are two other ships embarking that day. I've heard from other discussion groups that Canda Place is huge and if you get there at 11:30 you can practically wlk on. I'm a "worst case scenario" type and worry that the line of cabs trying to unload will be miles long and the check-in will take hours.
No you aren't likely to "walk on" at 11:30am- probably the opposite, will be waiting in a line for boarding later?? If you truely don't want any lines, arrive after 2pm. People now days are getting to the pier early hopeful they can be first on the ship.
To answer the second part of your question. Not to correct spelling but I think you were asking about the summer "solstice" in Alaska. It begins May 10th thru August 2nd. Areas very such as Barrow in the nothern section will have 84 days of continuous daylight. But areas like Fairbanks will have about 21:49 hours of sunlight and Ketchikan will have 17:29 of sunlight.
I sail on Island Princess May 7th and this is one of the things I'm looking forward to.
Enjoy your cruise.
