I have been reading so many wonderful things about the other Carnival ships but nothing on the Spirit. Most reviews (not all) but most, have been experiences of the ship while its doing it's Hawaii sailings.
Anyone out there familiar with the Spirit and what I have to look forward to while taking the Southbound Alaska sailing? Besides the beautiful scenery.
I'd like some details/clues/insider info. on the ship? Ways to save money etc. Any input will be appreciated.
We loved the Spirit. Did southbound Alaska last May. Be ready to get up early on first morning. By 6 am we were cruising College Fjords. We were there most of the morning and it was definitely a highlight!! They had a very good naturalist on board to provide information over the loud speaker. We spent 4 days precruise with a rental car to see more of the interior and I would highly recommend doing this. Otherwise, most of the ports (unless you rent a car) can be very touristy. We rented a car in Juneau and were able to get to Mendenhall glacier, the Alaska Brewery and other highlights very inexpensively. The food on Spirit exceeded my expectations - sure do miss the goat cheese pizza! You will love this cruise.
