Did you mean Gold Creek Salmon Bake? I'm sure you can do it independently. The salmon bake has a shuttle bus from the cruise ship dock to the site that runs frequently, so you can spend as much time as you want there. It's very worthwhile. Take the short hike back from the picnic area to the waterfall. BEAUTIFUL!
There is little difference usually if you book this on the dock. There is also the Thane Ore house for better salmon in my opinion. There is "Cabin night" that has salmon at Denali Park, includes a show, no bakes that I know of in Talkeetna or Anchorage?
If you can budget for it ($50 per adult) the Alaskan Cabin Night at Denali is really worthwhile. Great show and excellent food. They do two shows per night. It give you a good "taste" for Alaskan history. It's been almost 10 years since we went to the show and I've never forgotten it. They hire college kids (great performers) to come up for the summer season. They sing, act, and serve the tables. Great experience.
Correct you would book this direct. McKinley Chalet Resort is where the Cabin Night is and they have shuttles. Your hotel is run by the same company. You usually do need the actual booklet, because they request the booklet number, at least they used to in the past? The coupon is only good for the 8:30pm show and only on certain nights. Verify all restrictions before you purchase.
