I'm trying to decide between some narrowed down choices for port excursions and would like some opinions:
Juneau - Pilot's choice helicoptor glacier tour vs. the Helicoptor glacier walkabout. Any body offer any suggestions? Also, we're in port from 1 pm - 11 pm and our helicoptor tour gets over around 4:30 or so. Does anyone know if the Mount Roberts Tram stays open well into the evening so we could grab dinner after the helicoptor tour and then set out again for the tram?
Ketchikan - Misty Fjords Flightseeing vs. the floatplane? Seems like the flightseeing might be in a bigger plane but still have water landing? Float plane sounds like more fun but is it noisier?
Skagway - horsebackriding adventure. Do you really get to see some great scenery on this or is it mainly just a trail ride through nature?
So many choices is really hard to pick. Thanks for any input/suggestions.
Usually the pilots choice glacier helicopter trips have two landings?? Better than one if you can invest the funds without skimping elsewhere. A great tour choice. Ketchikan- all Misty fjords trips are floatplanes that I know of??? Are these ship tours?? Superior are the independents here. NO shuttle like tours, more time and better personal attention. I have flown with Southeast Aviation, Carlin Air and Island Wings. Just better choices.
As for Skagway- avoid this only so so horseback riding tour. Way superior and better location is Joni's out of Carcross- gets you into the Yukon. Can be booked with Southeast Tours, gets consistant raves.
