For those of you who have taken more then one cruise to Alaska what line did you prefer and why? Im looking for a reasonable rate, good shore excursions, lots to do on ship, would like to try free style dining, perhaps. I do like Carnival for younger people, and lots of on board activities but would like to try something like like it but maybe slightly more upscale, but not snobby. NCL? Princess? HAL? or RCL?
I have cruised Alaska on 5 different lines. IF you want the freestyle/ personal choice dining, your options are NCL and Princess. BUT every ship offers casual buffet dining and room service.
Carnival won't have the younger passengers of the Caribbean, in fact similar to all other lines with middle aged and above still the norm. But all ages are now certainly sailing Alaska. You likely also are not going to find "lots to do on the ship" again compared to the Caribbean, what is more important is what is outside the ship. Meaning- consider looking at ports, time in ports, glacier, route, price in your choice. Then fit in the ship. Port excursions are port based and available anyway you get there.
