First time cruisers

I am taking my mother 9-3-05 on an Alaskan Cruise out of Seattle. We are going on the NCL Spirit. We have never done this before, and I am just wondering if someone could give me a little info on what to expect during boarding, luggage, how to get around? These are probably silly questions, but I want to make sure everything goes well for my Mom. We are celebrating her 80th birthday, with a First cruise!! Thanks. Deb

Taking a cab from the airport will be the most direct. If you arrive early, be prepared for a wait. Usually if you arrive mid afternoon, the waits are less. Have your luggage properly tagged with your name, cabin number. I like putting 2 tags on, consider it in case one gets pulled off. Tip the porters.

Have all your documents filled out and passport/ birth certificates handy. Take the map of the ship with you from a cruise brochure, the ship maps on the ship are lacking usually.

Hey Dean, I am looking forward to this first cruise. I just hope I don't act like a first-timer, ooohhhing and aaahhhing everything I see. I love to explore new things, and this will be a first not only for me, but my mother too. She has been talking about this since I was born, and I won't say how long that has been. Anyway, am really looking forward to this.
