Default Neets Bay

We will be on Sun Princess 5 - 12 September and in Ketchikan 10 September.
If we go to Neets Bay is ther a good likelihood of seeing the bears feeding?

You could be on the edge? Far better would be the browns at Denali Park, which you will see.

The tour always sells out and likely no space once on the ship. If this is your only opportunity and a priority, I would book it.

Yes! Especially if you do the Neets Bay Bear Watch tour with Princess. We did it twice (in 2 years). It's awesome to see the bears that close gorging them selves with Salmon and not even careing that we were there taking pictures like crazy. You have to take a float plane to get there and I'm not sure if you can get to Neets Bay without a guided tour. That tour was pricey and you have to book it ASAP, but we did it twice and still talk about it to this day! Good Luck!

What's the best way to see the bears in Neets Bay with out booking it through the cruise line? Is there an independant tour guide/flightseeer?

Promech Air (and probably others) offer the tour - http://www.promechair.com/ (click on Flightseeing)

Promech is completely ship contracted and will not independently book ship passengers. They are the only operator that I know of that goes to Neets Bay- used to be Taquan, but no longer. Verifiy directly for current information.

>>Promech is completely ship contracted and will not independently book ship passengers.<<

Perhaps that has changed - full information with prices and an 800 number to call for reservations, are on the Web site. I've never seen that on a site that won't actually take reservations.

It could have, but previously Promech would not directly book any ship passengers. I did recommend verifying current policies.
