End of August...too late?

I'm trying to book my next trip to Alaska for next year and I'm looking at the August 26 - September 2 week, taking the Labor Day weekend to spend in Vancouver. I was just wondering if anyone has sailed this late in the Alaska season and if it's good or bad (weather-wise, etc.)? Or if it makes any difference at all.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

We were there last year last week of Aug-first week of Sep. It was fine. We had more sun AND rain than we did in our previous late May-early June trip, when we had mostly grey skies. Lots of animals out and a few less people. Enjoy.

I was on a cruisetour last August that ended on Sept 2nd. No problem. Land portion (qo nights) only drizzled one evening,,rest of time sunny and pretty warm. 4 nights at sea,,well,,we were in a ship but it only "heavy misted" the morning in Glacier Bay but that too stopped real fast. That was also the only time it was cold.

Our experience last year in the latter part of September would drive the cruise packer nuts. We had cold damp rainy days in Vancouver , but also had two of five days at low 80's temps (even up in Whistler). Sailaway wa a raw , cold damp day. The poolside band wore woolen hats.
In Alaska we had cold damp and rainy weather in Juneau and the same for the morning in Skagway. In the afternoon we were at the summit in shirt sleeves and bright sun. Kettchican, where it rains 364and a half days a year was bright, sunny and 80degrees. Hubbard Glacier was windy, sleat and wet snow and 32 degrees.
Victoria BC was sunny and 75 degrees all day. We needed everything from Goretex jackets with hats and gloves to short sleeved shirts, all in 10 days.

Thanks for the info PapaBill. We are going in 4 weeks and I don't look forward to packing. For the repositioning cruise this last May from San Diego to Vancouver, I packed a lot of sweaters & long sleeves but it was beautiful perfect weather and never wore any of them because thank goodness I threw in a few short sleeves! Do you see any need for me to pack my Ugg boots?

I have traveled mid/late August into beg of Sept the last several years and again in a week. No guarantees on weather any time in Alaska. But it is usually a little cheaper shoulder season with still decent weather and daylight.
