Default new - need advice on excursion

Just found this site. We are leaving soon for alaska and I need to book my excursion. I don't know which one to do in Ketchincan. It is a toss up between two. One is the Misty Fjords wildlife cruise where you get on a boat and cruise into the bejum canal, rudyerd bay,see seals, eagle nest, etc. Its 4h 15 min for 144.00. The other is called Best of Ketchican where you go to Saxman villiage, dolly's house, a floatplane and george inlet cannery. This one is 4h 30 min for 195.00. I don't know which one to do and know I need to book fast. I weigh 295 pounds so am not sure I can fit in plane????? Any suggestions on you experts would be most appreciated. Thank you

Joey,Ive heard that excursion is good.We went to Alaska May 27th,and took the float plane excursion with Michelle and Island WIngs. It was awesome! The fjords were something! And the 30 min lake landing was incredible. The men in my group were a little concerned with a lady pilot, but afterwards, they were very impressed. My hubby thought this was the best excursion we did.BTW...you are just right for the plane! Helicopters, you pay extra for being over 250,but not the float plane! Enjoy whatever you do! Dot

Look at the other subjects. I had the same concerns! Still do, but I'm thinking of keeping the floatplane. So, I'll be embarrassed a little - but my own fault I guess. . Enjoy your cruise

which excursion is most likely NOT to be cancelled? I hear a lot of excursions get cancelled or cut in 1/2 due to the weather? I want the best for the price, you know?

Joey,
I've seen the advice to make sure that you have enough time in that port todo the excursion. We're going to do the Misy Fiords floatplane with Michelle @ Island Wings. Book thm independently. $200 per person. Investigate the differences and book quickly.
Enjoy

I did the jet boat trip and had a wonderful time. The boat is very fast and I spent a lot of time up on deck enjoying the wind. We saw a humpback whale, several eagles and a nest and beautiful scenery.

Do you have enough time to do dog mushing and still look around quite a bit? Is it really fun? You said it gets cancelled often, how about in May?

Jakk...if your talking about a dog sled on snow, yes those get cancelled more often. The ones on land,no...If you book dog sled/glacier trek together,if the dog sled portion gets cancelled, you still do the glacier.

We went May 27th and they were doing some dog sledding when we did our glacier trek.Im sure they were having as much fun as we were! The glacier trek was awesome! That and the Misty Fjords float plane is NOT to be missed..have fun.Dot
