Default Candian Currency

Will be arriving inVancouver in May for Carnival Cruise. We will be staying in Vancouver for 1 night. Will we need Candian currency for tipping, etc. ?
We will have credit card for any meals or purchases.
If we do need Candian Currency, would we get this at Vancouver airport, and aprox. how much would we need?
Depending on when our flight arrives, we hope to do some sightseeing.

US money is fairly widely accepted, just don't expect a good exchange. But it evens out with what it costs to exchange money and you won't be left with canadian money you don't need.

We just cruised out of Vancouver twice this year...love the city!!! and we used our credit card for everything. I called them first, letting them know of our travels and they gave me an 800# in case of emergency. They charged us a 1% conversion fee...maximum $10. It saved a lot of headaches and we didn't have to worry about cash. Debit cards have a higher fee at our bank. Our friends got about $200 in CDN and were charged a $5 fee. Check the exchange rate before you leave and if you use American $, like for a cab, you can figure it out and adjust it.
