Default dog sledding in August

Has anyone gone dog sledding the first week of August? Who did you go through and what was your experience?

Are you talking Glacier dog sledding??? I tried to, canceled on two different trips. It is the most canceled of all Alaska excursions so have back up plans, including if you will consider a glacier helicopter landing, if available?

This is one tour that gets consistant raves, so definately go if of interest. Juneau is the most canceled areas. There is also availablity out of Skagway and Seward.

My dh will NOT get on a helicopter and I have only found helicopter tours for dog sledding so it looks like that is out. We do have other people going with us so I was trying to gather info for them too. We go to Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan and are doing Capt Larry in Juneau so dog sledding there might not be an option.

Karen16, I did email you directly regarding our trip for other suggestions. Did you get it or do you not reply individually? I'm not sure what protocol is on these boards, still somewhat of a newbie!

thanks!

Default Dog Sledding

My husband and I went - it was the best adventure of our life. It is worth the entire price of the cruise. Did it in Juneau on Princess at the end of July with a helicopter ride - about $400. Worth every penny - you will love it!!!

I am behind on my emails, I do answer some, not all.

A glacier dog sledding with Coastal can easily be combined with Orca Enterprises and IF anyone in your party is interested, I strongly suggest you book this way as it saves you an hour in shuttle time.

Helicopters are the only way to do dog sledding. There are cart rides, if going interior Alaska, the bargain around is in Wasilla for $5, Skagway will have a ship tour for $100 (barely worth the $30 when you could book independent several years ago). And Carcross for about $45
