Default Booked our first cruise!

We are leaving on the Visions of the Sea on Augus 11th....I am so excited. Now going to figure out which excursions we should do....the bike and brew in Juneau sounds interesting. Is anyone going on this cruise? Been on it?? Did you enjoy yourself...

Thanks!
Sandi

I have sailed on the Vision, last time 8-05. As for the bike and brew, has gotten some good reviews. I drove there. My husband just loves the Alaskan Amber!!!

Hi Karen,

Were you happy with the Vision cruise last year? Since this is our first cruise, it was so overwhelming to choose which one to go on. I wanted to keep cost on ship down so we could splurge on the excursions. We did get an oceanview room, but I am thinking of trying to upgrade to a balcony.

This trip seems to consume all of my time.

Since you ask. The vision is a very poor ship for deck viewing, just terrible. Unfortunately it will be your best option for your glacier sailing day. The ship does not have naturalists, which may impact on first timers since you won't get anything out of the areas you pass etc. They sometimes do have ship "lecturers", but not as good as naturalist that are out on deck etc. I only ate in the dining room 3 dinners, food was good. Nice layed out ship. Many good points.

Is this sailing impacted by the change in itinerary with a glacier day no longer??? I recall seeing posts about this. A very tough choice to consider. If you are impacted by this, I would definately suggest you consider a glacier helicopter landing as a MUST DO. Forget Mendenhall as a drive up, a very "sleepy" so so glacier on the scale of glaciers.

Take the helicopter trip to Mendenhall glacier. they fly you to the glacier and let you off t walk around with a guide on the glacier for 30 minutes or so while they get another load. If you go to Skagway, ride the train, spectacular.
