Karen follow-up--Vancouver airport and Seward luggage
You suggested using the non-cruise railroad transpoortation from Anchorage to seward, which we are. We arrive around 10:45am, but the cruise leaves at 9pm. Any suggestions where to leave the luggage and any idea when you can board (Summit).
In Vancouver, I remember reading that you could pay the cruise line for transportation to the airport and get out quickly. I can't find it on Celebrity's web site. We are arranging our own transportation and transfers. We were looking into a flight that leaves Vancouver around 12:15. The ship arrives in Vancouver at 7am. Unfortunately, we need to get back as soon as possible. Any thoughts are appreciated.
For clairfication, the train gets in after 11am into Seward. Frankly a significant reason to consider getting to Seward is for the superb activites, I am never in a rush to get on any Alaska departing ship. If you want my top tour recommendation- it is definately a Kenai fjords boat trip. If you go, they will pick you up at the depot, store your bags and then transfer to your ship upon return. This tour leaves at 11:30am www.kenaifjords.com Otherwise you can take a cab to Exit Glacier, take a cart ride with Seavey's Sled dogs, Sealife Center etc.
From Vancouver it is called US Direct. IF you go on your own, you CAN NOT participate and therefore I would NOT book your 12:15pm flight. You need a 2 hour window at Vancouver airport for international flights, add 45 mins for a cab from Canada Place. And you are not going to be getting off your ship at 7am, more like 8:30am or later.
IF you want that flight, then you will need to inquire if Celebrity participates in the US Direct Program. Otherwise, I would suggest a flight time after 1pm.
