island princess restaurants

hi,
anyone cruised on island princess before? can we make a reservation for a specialty restaurant (bayou cafe new orleans) for the first night on board, and do they really have a live jazz band??if so, what would be the best time for that reservation as to see the band?

We did a Canal cruise on the Island Princess last year. We did not do the Bayou restaurant. the food quality in the main dining room was quite good, certainly above average. The marini bar is very nice. The main bar I think on the Promanade deck, it may be the Wheelhouse had excellent entertainment every night. It is a very nice ship. We had a Veranda room, port side, slightly aft of amidship.

We were on the Island in Nov/Dec. I think you can make a reservation for the Bayou when you board, just call DINE (3463) as soon as get to your cabin, also works with other dining rooms. The jazz started at 8:00 pm when we were on board, it did distrub dinner a little because we were at a table very close to the music, but we still enjoyed our dinig experience. By the way the meals, especially the steaks are outstanding.
Also there was jazz music on some afternnons between 11:30 and 2:00, check your Princess Patter for the days.
