Default Weather in Alaska

I'm thinking about cruising Alaska next year, '07, but I'm a bit stumped regarding the weather. What month is the temperature the warmest?

I don't want to go when it's toooo cold. I live in the East coast and the last thing I want is to vacation in a cold place, I could stay home for that. I'm leaning towards August '07, and any insight will be appreciated.

I've cruised with Carnival 3 times, and I'm looking forward to cruising on Carnival Spirit with my kids, and hubby (if he wants to go).

Thanks,
Nereida

The best weather on average is from late May through late July. By mid-August the nights are getting pretty chilly again.

Thanks for your response, Yukon. I thought that August would be warmer, but I guess I was wrong. It doesn't matter to me if it's in June, July or August, as long as it's warm when I do go.

Our seasons fool a lot of people - being surprised by fall colours in mid-August is mild, but hitting heavy snow on a wilderness canoe trip in early September can be a fatal error in research.
