Default Golden Pass??

I've been reading about people using something like a Golden Pass to get discounts to different attractions in Alaska. What exactly is a Golden Pass and how do you get one? How old do you have to be? At the rate I am spending money for this vacation I'll take any discount I can get !!

Are you referring to the Golden Eagle, Golden Age, and Golden Access passes from the National Park Service, or to something else?

Norm.

There is actually little benefit to the National Park Golden Pass, since some parks do not charge an admission, like Klondike National Park, and Exit Glacier. Denali Park charges $10pp, Sitka has a smaller admission. No other national parks on inside passage, Wrangel National doesn't charge either.

It may not be that helpful in Alsaka, but if you want more information you can go to the National Park Service web-site
http://www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm
I have a Golden Access passport (for disabled). It is free, but I rarely use it as I feel I should pay the fees to maintain the parks, as long as I am able to do so. For a disabled person with limited income, it would be a blessing. I was told that inside the national parks, the Golden Access passport can also be displayed on the dashboard for a disability parking permit. I used it for that and didn't have a problem so guess it's true. The Golden Age passport is for persons aged 62 and older and is a lifetime admission and discount card. Check out the website for more information.

Yes. In case you did not notice, the text that appears underlined in my previouis post is a direct link to the relevant web page.

As Karen pointed out, the Golden Eagla Passport may or may not be a good deal depending upon how much one will use them at other parks.
