WP Railway or Glacier Point Wilderness Safari -- w/ 4 boys

We have two families going to Alaska on the Island Princess leaving July 24 and are wondering about the excurisions in Skagway. There are 4 pretty active boys in our group ages 16, 14, 14 and 12. While I've read great things about the WP Railway tour, I'm not sure that it would be better than the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari for the boys -- they generally would rather be doing rather than watching. I'd consider doing both, but the times of the tours won't allow it since there seem to be only two WP RR tours on Fridays. Opinions or altenatives?

I would get the boy's input??? If there are some train lovers, the White Pass RR offers some exceptional training. It is loaded with history and scenery. Engineering is also interesting. But I would not look at one tour for 8 people, consider spliting up?? Tours in Alaska are so excellent and costly not to miss and too costly for only a so so interest. You aren't going to have all 8 on the same page.

The Glacier Point tour is raved about so probably a better choice if you refuse to split.
