After spending time lurking and enjoying all the tips...I have a question!
What is the best clothing to wear on our excursions? What is best for the zip line in Juneau? Walking on a glacier and taking the WP train back down in Skagway? And possible halibut fishing or brown bear excursion in Icy strait? Any ideas? I want to start packing NOW! and need some ideas what to pack.
THANKS!! We leave in 14 days!
I was in Skagway at end of May I dressed in the morning in a sweather mid day I was so hot. On the White Pass you are riding in a car with a wood burning stove. I would dress in layers outwear jacket interwear t-shirt.
I didn't do the Glacier tour. But anything on a boat will be windy and cold. I did the whale watching in Icy strait and needed my jacket.
I didn't do zip line tour so I can't advise on that. But I would suggest you get some waterproof hiking boots of the raining weather in Ketcihan. Check weather reports on yahoo to get a better idea. Hope that helps and have a good time whatever the weather. We loved it there. You can view my pictures http://www.cruisemates.com/gallery/view.php?id=2871

You will need layers. Lightweight lined jacket, rain gear, 2 pair of walking shoes, layers of t shirts, turtle necks, sweatshirt. Knit hat and gloves. I always take a back pack, easy storage if it warms up.
