Default lodging in vancouver

What hotels in Vancouver are near the docks? I have looked at The
Westin Hotel and Resort down at the marina. Any suggestions?
We will fly in to Vancouver the day before our ship sails, and while
our cruise is not until next year, I am trying to get a jump on ideas of
where to stay and what to see while in Vancouver. Thanks for any help!

For both our stays last year we booked on Priceline. The first time we got the Hyatt on Burrard for $70, then we got the Sheratorn Wall for the same price. We really liked the 34th floor room in the Sheraton with the ceiling to floor windows. We jumped on the Double Decker buss, paid with a credit card to let them do the conversion. The ticket is good for 2 days but we've used it 4 times because they never stamp the 2nd day. We went all over Vancouver and took advantage of the many stops, getting back on when we wanted to continue. We went to Stanley Park, took their free shuttle bus around the park then went to the Aquarium. Got off near the water and had lunch at one of the restaurants. Also got off at Granville Island and looked around the artsy town. Later we got off at Canada Place and saw 4 or more cruise ships up close. We saw but did not get off at Gastown or China town. There is lots to see. You'll love Vancouver!!

The Pan Pacific is at Canada Place. So the closest hotel to the "dock".

Last year, I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Georgia Hotel -- one of the old gramd dames that the new owner has restored. It's located about four or five short blocks from the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place (easily walkable if you have "roller back" luggage) and right in the heart of downtown, so it's surrrounded by great restaurants, shopping, and other attractoins.

Norm.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific hotel in May for our cruise. It is actually attached to the dock where the cruise ships are. Around 9:30 am a bellhop came to our room and took our luggage to the ship for us. The rooms are beautiful! We had a room overlooking the pier and actually saw the Carnival Spirit(our ship) and a Holland American ship come into port around 6am. We didn't get to the hotel until 2pm the day before our cruise and since we were on Eastern Standard Time, we were beat. There is a food court that is right across the street from the hotel that has good food, especially the Mexican place. YUMMY!!!
There was a beautiful hotel just across the street from the Pan Pacific but I dont' remember the name...it could have possibly been the Westin.
It takes aprox. 30 minutes to get from the airport to the Pan Pacific.

we just got back from our trip the beginning of june and stayed over in vancouver at the westin. it was perfect. it is close to the dock and you can walk to stanley park if you want. there is a very nice seafood resteraunt next door called cordero's. be careful of the hop on hop off bus tours. we signed up for that but ended up walking to stanley park after 5 buses came by the hotel that were full. once we made it to stanley park we waited again as 4 more full buses passed us promiseing that another was 5 min. away. we waited an average of 40 min for those 5 min buses to come. once we finally got on one the people already on told us not to get off again just to ride and see the city that way. we spoke to the woman at the hotel when we got back and she said they were working on the problem but we heard from others that it happens everytime the cruise ship come in or people arrive a day early to board. enjoy your trip, we had a perfect time in alaska

We have taken 3 Holland American cruises from Vancouver. We've always taken an extra day before our cruise so our luggage will be with us. Since we enjoy meeting other travelers our first choice of lodging is a bed & breakfast. This past May, we stayed at the West End Guest House just off of Robson St. & within 6 blocks of Stanley Park. It was wonderful & restful from our 3 time change flight. Since it was our 3rd time in Vancouver we wanted to bike Stanley Park. The B & B had bikes to loan plus with Robson St. there's restaurants of every flavor within 2 blocks.(We liked Hun's Wun Ton so much we ate there twice). We booked a limo to take us to Canada Place. Before- we 've stayed at the Days Inn Downtown they have a free shuttle to cruise piers & friends have stayed at the Ramada Inn Limited in Gastown. Both are 'historic' inns so don't expect big rooms but they are comfortable - beside you're headed for heaven on a cruise!
